Students have the opportunity to study at Université Laval’s Faculty of Business Administration (FSA ULaval) for the semester or academic year. Summer programs are available for Business and French language study.

Studying at FSA ULaval means being part of the extended family at Université Laval, the first French-speaking university in North America, founded in 1663. Its American-style campus, which features many green spaces and wooded areas, is located in Québec City, one of the safest cities in Canada.

Université Laval traces its origins back to 1663, when Monseigneur François de Laval, the first bishop of New France, founded the Seminaire de Québec with the authorization of the King of France, Louis XIV. As Canada’s first university, Université Laval was the first institution in North America to offer higher education in French and is a top research institution.

Program dates vary each year based upon the host institution's academic calendar, but the following are general guidelines:

Application Process

Students will be required to complete two applications:

an internal ��ϲ�� Education Abroad application,
and a partner university application.

These quick steps will help walk you through the process.

1. Start an Education Abroad Application

When you click the "Apply Now" button (located towards the top and bottom of this page), you will be brought to the Education Abroad application system where you can view program costs and start an application. Be sure to submit your application before the deadline!

2. Wait for Acceptance

Once you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed by an Education Abroad Advisor. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. Please note that acceptance to the program by ��ϲ�� does not serve as final approval. The host institution or program provider grants final approval for each applicant.

3. Complete the Host University Application

Once your Education Abroad application has been accepted, you will be nominated to the host university. You will complete the host university’s application and wait for official acceptance to the program.

International Summer Business Universities

Please note that summer course offerings may vary from one year to the next and students may enroll in one or both summer sessions. Here is what was offered during Summer 2025:

June 30 - July 11, 2025: (3 credit hours)

July 7 - July 25, 2025: (3 credit hours)

French as a Second Language

With more than 200 million speakers on 5 continents, French is the foreign language that we learn most often after English. The study of French not only allows you to discover a rich cultural universe, especially in the fields of arts, science, and architecture but is also an asset for anyone considering a career abroad.

The Université Laval Language School offers non-francophone for 10 weeks (two 5-week sessions). Experienced teachers and enthusiastic facilitators offer you a teaching formula based on exchanges and participation in socio-cultural activities.

The Language School will give access to a free online placement test to all prospective students applying for FLS courses; this placement test score will determine the level of coursework in which students will be eligible to enroll. Courses are offered at six skill levels

Students can enroll in the FLS courses as a standalone summer program or in preparation for a fall semester or academic year at Université Laval.

Transferring Credits

Transfer Credits

With this program, students enroll in courses at a partner (host) institution. You will need to transfer the credits you earn abroad back to ��ϲ��.

Upon successful completion of the program, the host institution will issue you an official transcript, which will be needed for the credit transfer process.

You must earn passing grades on the courses you take abroad for the credits to transfer.

Prior to departure, students will meet with their academic advisor to complete a Transfer Course Planning (TCP) Form, which will outline the courses you plan to take while abroad and how the courses will transfer to ��ϲ��.

Some courses have already been pre-approved for transfer to ��ϲ�� and can be viewed on the Transfer Credit Guide. Please note that this is only a guide and is NOT a comprehensive list of courses available at each partner institution.

Credit Approval

Prior to departure, it is your responsibility to meet with your academic advisor to discuss the courses you plan to take while abroad.

If a course needs to be evaluated for transfer, you are responsible for working with your education abroad advisor to obtain the syllabus and have it reviewed by ��ϲ�� faculty.

Université Laval has 45,000 students, 15 elite sports teams, and a spacious campus (60% of which is beautiful green spaces and wooded areas). Within FSA ULaval, there are more than 10,000 students, 1,000 of whom are international and 300 of whom are exchange students hailing from 40 different countries. at Université Laval has something for everyone, with a multitude of activities to enrich your life outside of your studies; take advantage of the many opportunities to express your creativity, showcase your talents, and discover new interests.

Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) is the airport closest to campus and is approximately 15 minutes away by car.

Local Transit

The best way to take in Québec’s atmosphere, quaint streets, and hidden treasures is on foot. Québec City is deemed the 9th most walkable large city in Canada, as well as having tourist (and student!) friendly public transportation.

Public transit, shuttles, and tour buses are some of the many options for visiting the main attractions and enjoying the magic of Québec City. The local bus network, Réseau de transport de la capitale (RTC), is an easy way to travel to most tourist attractions.

Semester Exchange

Laval University has four residence buildings on its campus, of which three are co-ed and one is for women only. Every year, more than 2,300 students choose to live in the residence halls. A certain number of rooms in the student residences are reserved each semester for exchange students.

Off-campus housing is also available for students in the semester program, but this will be reserved by the student on their own.

Summer Programs

Students will stay in a single-occupancy room in the university's dormitories. Bedding and a private mini fridge are included. Kitchens and bathrooms are shared with other residents. Students will also have access to The PEPS (Pavillon de l’Éducation physique et des sports) sports complex for an additional fee. PEPS is the leading center for recreational and competitive sports in the region. It boasts modern facilities and offers over 100 sports activities.

Health & Safety

Pre-Departure Orientation

Prior to your study abroad experience, you will participate in a mandatory pre-departure orientation hosted by the Office of Global Education. During this orientation, you will be provided with information including but not limited to:

international travel procedures;
in-country resources;
health and safety resources and information;
culture shock and resources to help prepare for living abroad.

All students are encouraged to register with the prior to departure.

In addition, we encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travel page for for traveling to your destination(s).

If vaccinations or medications are needed according to the CDC, you should make arrangements for appointments with your healthcare provider or the DeWeese Health Center as soon as possible. Appointment openings at the DeWeese Health Center are limited and vaccines may need to be ordered, which takes time. Please note that not all immunizations are available at the DeWeese Health Center.

Visa Information

A visa is a document required by many countries, in addition to your passport, that allows you to enter the country for a certain purpose (whether that’s to stay, transit, or exit). Essentially, it is the country's government giving you legal permission to enter their country to travel, study, work, etc.

Please note, it is solely the responsibility of the student to:

determine the entry, transit, and stay requirements for the country or countries to which they will travel,
and to apply for any necessary visas, stay permits, or any other immigration requirements of the host nation(s).

It is also the responsibility of the student to:

verify the correct documentation required to apply for the required visa(s),
apply for the visa(s) early enough to ensure there is enough processing time,
and pay any fees associated with obtaining the visa(s).

��ϲ��'s Office of Global Education is available to provide general guidance regarding student visa requirements and procedures; however, each student who travels abroad is expected to manage their own legal obligations regarding international travel.

It is strongly recommended by the Office of Global Education that you carefully review the appropriate consulate or embassy website for the nation(s) you plan to visit in order to determine current entry/study/exit visa requirements.
